VEX-U Robotics

VEX-U Robotics is the competitive side of our club. Our team builds two robots to compete against other collegiate teams from around the world. This year, the game that VEX is hosting is High Stakes.

At UCSB, our mission is to compete at the highest level. To accomplish this, our team constructs and prototypes many iterations of intakes, lifts, catapults, drivetrains, and other devices to create a competitive robot. Our team undergoes the entire engineering process - from brainstorming to prototyping to reiteration.

This 2024-2025 year, our team has qualified for Worlds Championships in Dallas, Texas and received the Design Award!

 High Stakes

In High Stakes, teams must load rings onto goals around the map, some high off the ground and others being on mobile goals. At the end of the match, robots must attempt to climb a 4-foot ladder in the middle of the map. This takes place on a field against another collegiate team

  • Qualified for Worlds Championships

  • Received Design Award

Our Robots:

Small Bot (15’’)

  • 450 RPM, 4 motor drive

  • 600 RPM 1st stage intake, 11 W

  • 200 RPM 2nd stage intake, 22 W

  • 200 RPM 3rd stage conveyor hook, 11 W

  • Pneumatic mobile goal latch

  • Pneumatic mobile goal rush arm

Large Bot (24’’)

  • 366 RPM, 6 motor drive

  • 600 RPM intake, 11W

  • 200 RPM conveyor stage, 11W

  • 50 RPM, 11 W, lady brown

2023-2024

 Over Under

In Over Under, teams must score green triballs into their goal. Triballs are loaded on one side of the field and scored on the other. Robots must work together to outscore their opponent and climb an elevation bar at the end of the match.
